Election Day 2024 in the USVI: Early Voting and Community Voices
Updated: 4 days ago

It was Election Day 2024, and everyone had a different way of being part of it: casting a ballot, working the picket line or following the results. I had already voted early and was getting ready to check out the atmosphere around St. Thomas. This page preserves my observations from November 5, 2024.
See my companion Election Day 2024 results, scenes and interviews recap.
Archived 2024 Reader Poll
I originally asked readers how they felt about voting in 2024. The original poll is retained below as part of this archive. It is informal, not an official election result. Its settings display voters, so it should not be treated as anonymous.
It’s Election Day‼️ Are you voting this year?
0%Yes! Voting today to make my voice heard. 🗳️
0%Yes! I voted early and avoided the lines.
0%No, don’t feel it will make a difference. 😕
0%No, just curious to see who gets in. 🤔
My Early Voting Experience
I took advantage of early voting in 2024 and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. It was a smooth process that let me skip the Election Day rush. That was my experience at the time; current voting dates and procedures should be checked with the Election System of the Virgin Islands.
Archived 2024 Voting Centers
The original Election System of the Virgin Islands graphics below list the voting centers and 7 AM to 7 PM hours for November 5, 2024. They are preserved as 2024 records. For current registration, voting dates and locations, visit the official Virgin Islands voter information page.

A Little Humor to Start the Day
I don’t know why I was surprised on Election Eve 2024 to see someone setting up a tent near Tutu Park Mall. Talk about commitment! It jolted me back to remembering what a big day was coming. That front spot was properly secured, and I had to hand it to them for being prepared, even if I was the one taken by surprise. I was getting ready to head out and capture the atmosphere around the St. Thomas voting centers and picket lines for people following from home.
A Look at the Presidential Election Atmosphere
In 2024, the presidential election conversations felt exhausting to me. Everywhere I turned, they sparked passionate debates, online, in person and in casual conversations. Even here in the small but mighty U.S. Virgin Islands, people followed the race closely. I was hopeful for a positive direction forward.
U.S. citizens residing in U.S. territories cannot vote for president in the general election. USAGov explains who can and cannot vote.
