Election Day 2024 in the U.S. Virgin Islands brought people out to vote, campaign and talk about the future. I filmed scenes and interviews outside St. Thomas voting centers and photographed the atmosphere on November 5. This archive brings that coverage together with the certified USVI results and a clearly labeled presidential-results snapshot.

Election Day Observations: A Quieter Atmosphere at the Polls

Visiting St. Thomas voting centers on Election Day 2024, I noticed shorter lines and a smaller crowd of campaigners than in previous years. I wondered whether early voting, a smoother process or turnout played a part. Those were questions from what I saw at a few centers, not a territory-wide turnout measurement.

The quieter atmosphere also made me wonder how connected people felt to the electoral process and whether they believed their vote would bring meaningful change. Playing devil’s advocate, I asked how leaders could better connect with people who felt unheard or skeptical.

This Election Day was a reminder that civic engagement requires people to feel valued and represented by their leaders.
