Celebrating Father's Day 2023 in Frenchtown with Shaw HP and Karnage
Updated: 4 days ago
The 28th Annual Father's Day Activities took place in June 2023 at the Joseph Aubain Ballpark Parking Lot in Frenchtown, St. Thomas. While I first heard about this event last year, 2023 was my first time attending at the unbeatable price of FREE! Though this was a 3-day weekend event, I was able to attend the Saturday event only, where Shaw HP the Band and Karnage performed. Karnage’s lead singer was Jeavon Sasso, also known as Uncle Sas, Unkle Mehn and Uncle Sasso.
I must say with each event, I'm learning what to do and not to do, and so the YouTube video process has gotten much better. Check out the video for Shaw HP the Band followed by Karnage (formerly known as Poizon Band) LIVE performance. Please subscribe, comment, share, and like the video, and don't forget to check out the other videos as well.

Photos
I've recently just started taking photography a little bit more seriously (look forward to where it takes me in the future). I'm still in the phase of becoming comfortable with asking to take pictures of others, and being ok with being told no. I even asked my daughter to go around and take some pictures for me. J’Niya Rambaran is pictured in the event gallery. I was able to take a few pictures which you can see below:
Fun for everyone
All age groups were thoroughly entertained at this event. The booths also sold food, ice cream, toys, drinks, and even Champagne for the fathers. I was sooo consumed with videotaping that I didn't notice the booth selling lobster, or that Philly previously from Vendors Plaza with those yummy burgers was there. It rained briefly as is seen in the video, however in the words of Daddy Shaw "The rain doesn't stop the Bacanal". I had a great time, both artists performed well.
Lessons learned
Next year will walk with a chair. Although I had on my super cute Croc sandals, I was still aching by the end of the night. For more pictures visit my Facebook page. Walk with cash (however at least one booth took cards). After finally attending this event for the first, I must say that I'm looking forward to next year's Father's Day activities in Frenchtown. Remembering members of our community
I remember J’Niya Rambaran, whose event photograph appears in this 2023 gallery and briefly at 00:13 in the video. J’Niya died in September 2026. My heartfelt condolences go to her family, friends, and loved ones. For confirmed information, read the Virgin Islands Police Department.
I also remember Jeavon Sasso, known as Uncle Sas, Unkle Mehn and Uncle Sasso, Karnage’s lead singer at this event. Sasso passed away in 2025. Following his passing, the band is now known as YFB. My condolences go to his family, friends, bandmates, and loved ones. Read the Government of the Virgin Islands statement.
