Happy Father's Day to all the fathers in the Virgin Islands and beyond—those raising children, guiding from afar, stepping in as father figures, or doing the quiet work of healing generational cycles. I honor you today.
Whether you’re present every day or working to show up in new ways, your love and effort matter.

This is personal. I’ve lived the weight of being both mother and father. I’ve cried, shouted, and tried everything to protect and guide my children. I’ve also seen the difference a father’s presence makes. I want more of that for all of us.
The Reality of Our Children
Our Sons and Daughters Are Dying
We’re losing too many of our children—to violence, depression, poor decisions, and crowds that fill the void where a father should be. These streets are calling our youth. Without the steady presence of a father, many are answering that call.
Fathers see things mothers may miss. They discipline in a way that grounds. They bring balance to emotion and lead by example in silence and strength.
When a father is involved—really involved—it changes the entire temperature of a home. The chaos lessens. The comparison and power struggles ease. Children thrive under that covering.
The Importance of Fatherhood
Your Love Matters. Your Presence Is Power.
Your children need you—not just to provide, but to guide. Not just to discipline, but to nurture. When you show up with love and presence, you help shape emotionally secure and confident children.
Whether you’re near or far, it’s about effort, not perfection.
Acknowledging the Present Fathers
To the Fathers Already Showing Up—We See You
If you’re doing the work—leading, listening, protecting, and providing—thank you. You might not hear it often, but your consistency changes lives. You create safety and stability. You are a pillar in a world that often feels unstable.
A Call to Action for Fathers
To the Fathers Who Know They Can Do Better—Start Today
Maybe things didn’t start out the way you hoped. Perhaps you didn’t have a father to guide you. Shame or distance may have kept you from fully showing up.
But here’s the truth:
It’s never too late to be the father your child deserves.

The Impact of Stepfathers
Stepfathers Matter Too
I know this personally. My stepfather wasn’t perfect, but he showed up when it mattered. He taught me how to check my engine oil, change a tire, and drive his truck. He walked me down the aisle and attended my graduations. He made life easier for my mother during hard times—and for us as her children. We loved him till the very end.
That love and impact—that’s real fatherhood, too.
The Unique Role of Fathers
Fathers Affect Children in a Way Mothers Can’t Always Reach
I have been both mother and father to my children. I’ve tried stern talks, emotional pleas, and heavy lifting. However, I’ve seen firsthand how my children responded to their father’s effortless words—when he was still in the home— with more obedience and less resistance.
His calm voice produced results that my tears and exhaustion couldn’t. That doesn’t make me less of a mother. It shows how much more powerful a child’s life can be when both parents are engaged.
I want more for our future generations—more wholeness, more unity, and more men standing tall.

The Call for Unity
The Future Is Calling—and It Needs Fathers
We can’t keep putting all the weight on the backs of our women. It’s time to stop tallying who does more or better. We need to work together, not against each other.
To see stronger families, safer communities, and more healed generations, we must call our fathers back into the circle. Not with guilt, but with grace. Not with judgment, but with invitation.
Because the Virgin Islands deserve more whole families. Our children deserve to know the strength of their father’s love.
