Kallaloo Festival 2024 St. Thomas: Food, Vendors and Jam Band
Updated: 4 days ago

Kallaloo, live music and a day with the community at Emancipation Gardens in St. Thomas. That was the mix at Kallaloo Festival 2024, presented by BossChef Promotions, LLC on August 31, 2024. I captured the food, vendors, family activities and the Awesome Jam Band in this video recap.

Watch the festival highlights, including the Jam Band performance, and revisit the food and people who made the day.
The Kallaloo competition included People’s Choice, Best Pork Kallaloo, Best Seafood Kallaloo and Best Vegan Kallaloo. Congratulations to all the winners!
There was more than Kallaloo on the menu: tarts, pastries, gooseberries, stews, Johnny cakes and other cooked foods. Face Canvas, LLC brought colorful face painting, vendors displayed crafts and goodies, AbsolutCrucian shared different coquito flavors, and Q.T. Cuties LLC featured custom accessories. Freshly made cotton candy added to the family atmosphere.

What is Kallaloo (Callaloo)?
Kallaloo, also spelled callaloo, is a Caribbean dish made with leafy greens. In the Virgin Islands, versions often include okra with pork or seafood. Recipes vary by island and household, and this festival also included a vegan category. Explore Virgin Islands food and culture.
For me, Kallaloo Festival 2024 brought together food, music and the kind of community gathering I enjoy documenting. Whether you came for the Kallaloo or the performances, there was plenty to take in.
